Friends of the Library Scholarship Added to 2026 Available Scholarships

The “Friends of the Library” (Todd County Public Library) are providing a new scholarship for seniors of TCCHS. The information for that scholarship is below. This scholarship is in the amount of $1500 and requires a 2.5 GPA or better. The file is below and is also linked to download.

 “Friends of the Library” Academic or Technical Scholarship

Amount – $1500.00

GPA Requirement – 2.5 or Better

This scholarship has just been provided by the “Friends of the Library.” It has the same requirements as other scholarships already included in the Scholarship Application that is online at https://tcchs-alumni.org/2025-tcchs-alumni-foundation-scholarships/.

This new scholarship requires a 2.50 GPA or better.

This new scholarship’s requirements are the same as listed on page 4. (They are below for your convenience.)

Eligibility Requirements: 

  • Applicants must be 2026 graduates of Todd County Central High School. 
  • Three scholarships require a minimum of a 3.5 GPA.
  • Most scholarships require a 3.0 out of 4.0 GPA.
  • Other scholarships require a minimum of a 2.75 GPA.
  • Two scholarships require a minimum of a 2.50 GPA.
  • Applicants must be enrolled full time in a post-secondary institute such as a four-year college or university, a two-year or four-year vocational/technical school, or an institute. 
  • Checks for scholarships are made out directly to the post-secondary institution and not to any individual. The funds can be applied to tuition, books, and college-related fees. Funds must be used within the first two semesters, Fall 2026 or Spring 2027. By Feb.15, 2027, any unused funds will be returned to the TCCHS Alumni / Foundation Scholarship Fund and used for future scholarships. 

Selection Criteria: 

Please note the specific selection criteria listed on each of the scholarships on the cover sheet. 

A committee will review and consider each application. There will be no discrimination based upon sex, race, national origin, religion, or special needs. The decision of the committee is final. School personnel and committee members will keep all information provided in complete confidence. All applications, except for that of the awardee, will be shredded at the end of this process to protect private information. Your guidance counselor will be notified following the meeting of the selection committee. All applications must be given to the guidance counselor or Mrs. Rachel Westerman on or before April 15, 2026.

Each eligible applicant must 

  • Enclose a current high school transcript. 
  • Attach two current letters of recommendation from educators (non-family members). 
  • Attach two current letters of recommendation from non-educators (non-family members). 
  • Type a two-page essay (12-point font and double-spaced) expressing why he or she wants to be considered for this scholarship. The essay must address the area of collegiate study chosen and the applicant’s goals. An essay longer than two pages will be disqualified).
  • Note for the Todd County Chamber of Commerce Academic or Technical Scholarship, an additional essay must be prepared for this scholarship to discuss one of the following two topics. The essay should not exceed two pages, be double-spaced, and use 12-point font. The two topics are 1. Explain how growing up in a small town will affect your ability to be a leader in the futureOr 2. Explain what our community can do to help our young people succeed and how that can be implemented.
  • Note for the Carolyn L. Wells Writing Scholarship, please attach a short poem written by you. The poem should not exceed one page in length. Use a 12-point font. Also have an English teacher verify and sign at the bottom of the poem that the poem is your original writing.
  • Complete the entire application process. 

Failure to meet eligibility or to complete information will disqualify your application. 

Recipients shall not be eligible for renewal of the scholarship.
